Biodiversity

The word biodiversity conceived by E.O. Wilson in 1986, is currently used to highlight the variation of life forms  for the entire globe. Biodiversity  consists of millions of biological species produced in millions years of evolution, in particular varieties in species, in genes within species and in ecosystems. The resonance on this topic arose as spices are going to extinct at a dangerous rate due to habitat loss, over exploitation and spread of non-native spices. Appropriate conservation and sustainable development, strategies are then required to preserve the diversity in wildlife.  For instance the European Community is committed in halting the loss of biodiversity worldwide, six main targets and twenty actions have been set out to halt the loss of biodiversity by 2020.
