Product Applications

Polymer Industry:

As a functional filler with reinforcing properties: IMIFabi talc grades keep their lamellarity and are therefore recommended as reinforcing agents in many polymer applications. Compounded with polypropylene, their main applications are automotive industry (bumpers, dashboards, interior trims), household appliances, packaging etc.

As a nucleating agent: The fine IMIFabi talcs, added to semi-crystalline polymers, act as nucleation centers for the growth of crystals, thus increasing dimensional stability, reducing warping and reducing cycle time.

As an antiblocking agent: in the polyethylene film industry, IMIFabi has developed a range of products to decrease blocking resistance, without effecting mechanical properties.

In the rubber industry: Used as a filler and as an anti-sticking agent, IMIFabi talc products are ideal for these applications.

Paper Industry:

For pitch control and as an de-inking agent: IMIFabi talcs prevent the organic impurities of the paper pulp and recycled paper from agglomerating. IMI Fabi Talc products increase both the quality and the output of paper machines.

As a filler: talc reduces the porosity of the paper and increases the smoothness.

In coating: it increases the smoothness and the printability of paper.

Paint Industry:

IMIFabi talc products improve dry hiding, matting effects, cracking resistance, corrosion resistance and aids in adapting rheology. Fine grades are ideal as titanium dioxide extenders.

Specially designed IMIFabi talcs enable low VOC formulations

As a plastic filler for putties: IMIFabi talcs enhance the plasticity of the putties, mainly polyester based, thus improving adhesion and sand ability.

Putties and pencils:

As a smooth filler: IMIFabi talcs are recommended in the pencil industry: Softer than the paper, they provide an excellent resistance to the inner core of the pencil.

Ceramics

As a flux agent for glazes: IMIFabi talc, with our low iron content, reduce the melting point of ceramic glazes and improve their vitrifications.

As a flux agent for ceramic: By reducing the process temperatures and the firing time, talc reduces the processing costs. IMIFabi talcs also improve the mechanical properties in ceramics.

Agriculture:

As an anti-caking agent

By covering animal feedstuff and fertilizers pellets, IMIFabi talcs effectively control moisture and pellet stickiness, there by increasing flowability out of the silos and processing plants.

As a carrier: the talc powder is used as inert carrier of fertilizers, phyto-pharmaceuticals and pest-control preparations.

Pharmaceuticals and cosmetics:

As an excipient in pharmaceuticals: Inert and safe, IMIFabi talc products are used as carriers of active ingredients in pills and other pharmaceutical preparations.

As an ingredient in cosmetics, our products are used as matting agents in face-powder and make-up and as thickening agents in liquid preparations, and of course as body powder.
