Beehives at Brusada-Ponticelli- Valbrutta mine

Placed at the foot of the “The Nature Trail of the Miners”, ten colorful beehives and related guests have just  joined our beautiful mine of Brusada-Ponticelli-Valbrutta.

This project is a result of IMI Fabi’s commitment which started in 2007 regarding the  outdoor area restoration (biodiversity nursery creation, natural trail realization and more).

THE PROJECT IS FOLLOWING SEVERAL OBJECTIVES STATED BY THE ONU SDGS, AS BEES SAFEGUARD PLAY A PRIMARY ROLE IN ACHIEVING
UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

Pollinators are essential for feeding the world population in a sustainable way as indicated in objective nr. 2 that aims to defeat hunger and achieve food safety by improving nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Bees are important to keep biodiversity and maintain an active ecosystem. We can in fact assess that it is fundamental to reconsider how we grow, share, and consume food, so that biodiversity and the ecosystems can be maintained, with reference to reference to objective nr. 15 regarding life on earth who aims at protecting, restoring, and favoring a sustainable use of the land ecosystem.

These pollinators contribute to build environments with greater resilience and creating new jobs for small agricultural owners aimed at satisfying the growing demand for healthy, and safe foods, as indicated in objective nr. 1 and 9, such as defeat every form of poverty and promote a sustainable industrialization.

It is in fact well known that the reduction of bees on the earth, can lead to increases in levels of malnutrition and disease (nr. 3 health and well-being granting and 13 fight against climate change). Finally, the increase in agricultural yields that these pollinators can guarantee is definitely important (nr. 8 - incentive long-term, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth and full and productive employment).
